Sarah and Jenn Visit! (Day Three)

Friday, we were lucky enough to have Daniel acting as a babysitter. We woke up early and headed out, just us girls, to the unbelievable beauty of Blowing Rocks Preserve on Jupiter Island. It is unlike any other beach I've seen in Florida with water-sculpted limestone forming ledges, caves, and living art pieces right at waters' edge. We arrived at low tide and were able to pick our way through areas that are more-often-than-not underwater. We spent hours meditating, picking our way over (and under) the rocks and taking photographs. It was fucking spectacular. The mad, crazy-beautiful goodness of the earth on display in one place.

We eked every second we could out of it until we had to rush back to get Graeme and allow Daniel to get back to work for the day. With Graeme in the car, I think we did some more mundane things like visit thrift stores (mostly thriftFAIL!) and shiver at Juno Beach together just after twilight. That evening, Daniel's generous babysitting continued so we were able to have dinner at Whole Foods (thank you, vegan hot bar items!) and then go to see Avatar 3D together.

I am still processing the awesomesauce that was Avatar. Everything I've read resonates with me. Yes, this changes film-making and Yes, this is a must-see, and Yes, this is a pagan-hearted movie and Yes, it does remind you powerfully of some other natives v. destructive intruders stories like Pocahontas and Fern Gully. It was all that and far more. It has the same crushingly relevant social commentary of Wall-E and made me forget, against all odds, that I had to pee for three hours. ;) What can I say?? It was heartfelt and sobering and crushing and wonderful.

Aww! These pictures are so pretty! Looks like you had lots of fun! :D

Your perfumes were the smelltrack of the days together. Seriously, everything smelled different depending on who was wearing it. Is this how perfume always is? It is crazy.

[identity profile] rubymulligan.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, yay! I don't know about the outside world, but so far, with us, it seems to be the case. Everything always smells so different on each of us. :D It still seems strange, though. To me, they smell like how they smell on *me*. ____ smells like _____, nothing else. Then when I smell them on one of you, I'm like, "What *is* that?" It smells like something totally new! I'd love to hear how hit/miss they were.

Lemon Meringue is my new favorite scent! ♥♥

Aww, yay! ♥

[identity profile] sugarmaplelife.livejournal.com 2010-02-01 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure how I didn't reply to this already.

There were no misses. Everything would be in my "keep pile" though there were a few I wouldn't get bottles of. For me, Lemon Meringue has a long lemon Pledge stage (no surprise with me and lemon's history together) and Apple Dumplin' is a little chemically apple (again, same story with apple notes). Both turn out nice enough but aren't winners with my skin chemistry. Strawberry Shortcake is my (OMGLOVE!) favorite. Orange Blossom is summer Creamsicle. Cute and yummy. Blueberry Muffin is *totally* a blueberry muffin. Cafe' Ole is too coffee, too bitter on me. (But I don't like coffee, so this should be no real surprise.) Hrm. What else was there?

[identity profile] rubymulligan.livejournal.com 2010-02-01 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The one you didn't list was Lime Chiffon. But I'm glad you liked them! I'm trying to picture Sarah and Jenn's faces when you were like, "Guess what I've got?" Because I totally kept it a secret that they were going to get to test them! :D Fun stuff! And I kind of predicted you'd have apple and lemon fail, but I didn't know your take on coffee one way or another, but I know I've never seen you drink it. What about Sarah and Cafe Ole? Old pals? ;)

[identity profile] sugarmaplelife.livejournal.com 2010-02-01 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. I'm trying to think of what exactly she said about Cafe Ole. Something like "MUSTHAVETHIS!" in a zombie voice, I think. ;) Or maybe that it was the best in the cosmos. ;)

:D

But yeah, it was crazy because everything smelled different on them than it did on me. Crazy!

Oh, and I had them laid out in their bathroom along with the guest soaps and shampoos. :D

OMG THIS!!!!!! We're so obsessed with them, Rhi~!!!! Thank you!!!!!!! <333333333

Wow, I had no idea that place even exists! I love your wind and sea-spray touseled hair! It must have been awe-inspiring.

More beautiful photos.

I went into Avatar feeling highly skeptical (which is unusual for me in the first place), but it moved me to the core. What a breathtaking film.

Beautiful photos - I'm so glad the weather held up nicely! I was worried with the crap weather that we had moving through. :)

[identity profile] sugarmaplelife.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Today is gray and a little stormy, but the weather was perfect while they were here. :)

[identity profile] aerialmelodies.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, that's good to hear! Enjyoed reading about all of the (mis?)adventures. It's the oddities in the plans that make the trips awesome and so much more memorable... not to mention fabulous photos. Graeme's one photo you put up of Sarah and Jenn with the rose in the middle? ADORABLE. :)

[identity profile] sugarmaplelife.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Though I guess by "perfect", I should say "perfect for beach-going!" :) Or, perhaps, "perfectly cooperative with our plans!". :)

*GASP*
I could LIVE in these pics :-)

Blowing Rocks is one of the most beautiful and inspiring places I've ever seen. Thank you so much for showing it to us. ♥

We miss you!

This is the most magical place on earth, I'm fairly certain~ <33333

And the girl's night out was the funnest thing in the COSMOS~ <3333
