I need to start selling this stuff off, as I'm running into a lot of "No"s in my orders. Let's chat. What have your latest BPAL purchases been? What are you loving this season? :) I'm having very little luck with anything beyond pure foodie.
I'm finding a lot of things that don't work for me. I'll have to get my act together sometime and have a sale.
Black Phoenix Trading Post
WANTON VOLUPTUOUSNESS: OCEANS OF LOVE AND MILLIONS OF KISSES BATH OIL (Total failboat. Too floral.)
Orange blossom and honey.
PUMPKIN PIE HALLOWEEN BATH OIL (Yum! Yum! Yum!)
Devilishly decadent and a little bit ridiculous!
Frimp with Purchase
THE LAST SQUISHED JELLY BEAN (I'm testing it now. In the bottle, yeck, on my skin, it might be good in a cinnamon chewy candy kind of way.)
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
(On first sniff, in the bottle, I'm thinking Pomona and Mlle. Lilith will be no-gos. :/ Why aren't these apple scents working for me? I *so* wanted something autumnal to work but all I've managed is pumpkin pie. :D)
MLLE. LILITH, FORTUNE TELLER
Coconut and a bit of sugar with pomegranate, pink musk, orange blossom, cypress, honey myrtle, and incense.
POMONA
Azaroles, nuts, and apple blossoms with red apple pulp, mulberry, blackberry, and pomegranate juice.
CAKE SMASH
Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting against a backdrop of Snake Oil, Dorian, and Doc Constantine!
PLASTIC PINK FLAMINGO
Pink sugar-crusted marshmallow, dandelion, and sap.
BOO!
Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream
Frimps with Purchase
THORNS
HECATE
CATHEDRAL
MANDRAKE
BLACK OPAL
COBRA LILY
MAENAD
BLOOD
NOCTURNE

Date: 2009-09-22 12:11 am (UTC)Why is BPAL full of Frimp Fail? WHY?
Pumpkin Pie, Boo, PPFlamingo, and Cake Smash. OH HELLO THERE FOODIE. :DDD
You need to come up with this master post of doom with all of your scents. Separate them into Keeps and Sales/Swaps, and post the lab descriptions then give little reviews in parentheses so you can remember what you thought of them. LIKE MINE. That I need to update. Totally. Because it's so out of date. And I don't like to look at it because it reminds me that I own too much perfume. But it's totally organized and anal. But you just don't know how many times I reference that post. It's so useful!

I was super organized before with BPAL, I had spreadsheets filled with info. Now, I don't know. That was a ton of work.
Can I even sell my stuff if I don't have any feedback? Cause really, I've spent too much on stuff I won't ever wear. (Though after three years, I finally think Pink Phoenix is wearable, so maybe my opinions will change.)

Date: 2009-09-22 01:38 am (UTC)Update: Although my mom has it, confirmed, Alex, luckily, after a battery of tests, does NOT. They thought, after Chad telling them about Mom and about Alex's symptoms, was pretty sure he had it, then after all of the swapping and the testing, once the results came back, he's clear. He just has a regular virus. Non-contagious virus and should be free and clear for school tomorrow. He's thrilled.
Chad, however, wasn't able to officially see the ER doctor. He tried to finesse his way in by piggybacking onto Alex's appointment, but the doctor was wise to his tricks and told him if he wanted to be seen he'd have to pretty much go back into the waiting room and wait for his turn. It was past nine when they got home and Chad hadn't seen a bathroom since 7am. He'll have to see his primary care doctor in the morning. So, does Chad have it? Who knows. He exhibited some of the signs yesterday: confusion, dizziness, severe cough. We're hoping not, because that's less chance that Alex will get it, or that I had it, or will get it. So, we're just crossing our fingers that it's not a Matich household outbreak and the funk can just stay across the street with my mom. I guess my dad has to fend for himself. Sorry, Dad.
And to make this post legal, I still think you and I need to decant from each other's bottles so we can try new things, like let me get an imp of your Pink Phoenix for an imp of my ___. Or whatever. Let the wheeling and dealing commence.

Date: 2009-09-22 02:24 am (UTC)So maybe you aren't typhoid Mary? That'd be nice. I find it crazy, though, that two people can't visit the ER together. Excuse me? Aren't they treating them for the same thing? That they told him to like start over from the beginning of their all-day wait is crazy-making. This is why healthcare in this country is so crap--that you had to go to the ER to begin with for something so stupid. Grrrargh! :)

Date: 2009-09-22 04:39 am (UTC)If you have a ton of frimps, like I do (something like 300+) from all your purchasing and want to sell them, it can be quite lucrative. I think they can be sold at around $3-4 per imp.
There are guidelines for the sales prices of bottles based on their availability and the amount left in the bottle, but generally you can get about what you paid for them (or more if they're limited edition scents).
WARNING: It is SOOOO addictive.
It's worth it though if you have scents you want to get rid of and want to try something new. I've done loads of swapping and selling/buying there and have luckily not gotten burnt. It's a pretty cool little community. :)

Date: 2009-09-22 12:49 pm (UTC)I'd be happy to send you an assortment of sample sizes to test out and see what kinds of notes catch your interest. This can be a very expensive hobby, but BPALers love to share (we call it "enabling") with newcomers. :)
If you're interested, just send me your mailing address to songtoisis@gmail.com and I'll put something together for you to get you started. :)
(Also, tell me what scents caught your eye and I'll try to include some things that are at least similar.)
