I hope you'll consider not eating a turkey this year.

Thank you so much for posting this. Traditions are what we make of them and there are plenty of great traditions we can still honor without contributing to this kind of suffering!

Totally what Neva said~ :) I haven't eaten a turkey on Thanksgiving in five years, and I don't miss it in the least.

Rachel = awesome. :) <3

You know, even my totally omnivore husband has skipped turkey for Thanksgiving since we met and has *never* missed it.

I mean, really, isn't everyone just showing up for the mashed potatoes anyways? ;)

Yes! I, for one, am glad that Graeme won't be raised with all the horror and guilt I felt every Thanksgiving as a child. :/ We have much more loving traditions in mind.

One of the many, many, many reasons we love you so very much. :) You are the best parents in the world, lady.

I "adopted" a turkey last year & this year. It's such a wonderful program. :)
We're having a vegetarian Thanksgiving this year (well, minus Corey...he's having ham).

Thanks for posting this. *hugs*

One day, hopefully we'll be able to adopt a turkey & bring it home to live out the rest of its days with us. I'm sure the cats would be irked with me for that. ;)

Can I tell you my deep dark vegan secret?

I've never tried Tofurkey.

I could get booted out of the club for that--easily!

I was surprised, when I was at Farm Sanctuary with Sarah and Jenn, just how sociable and snuggly the turkeys really were. I would have thought they, coming from factory farming conditions, would have wanted nothing to do with people but they were outgoing, friendly, and curious--like a herd of cats twining around our ankles. I think they'd make a great (and totally conversation-starting) pets. :D

The cats? They might not know what to do. :D

I never did until Sarah's mom gifted us with it this past January knowing I was visiting. She thought we could have a nice dinner in with Laura... that box is a gift from a higher being. It doesn't matter who or what someone thinks that being is, you eat the goodies inside and you know it's for real. XD

I'm dying to find it around here and have it as a pre-meal with Ryan before we fly out Thanksgiving afternoon to Texas, land of meat. LOL Just need to know if Whole Foods might carry it... thankfully my ex's girlfriend works there and may know. If I find out they sell it, I will certainly let you know as I'm sure you have Whole Foods in your area. :D

Indeed. :)
The cats would be totally freaked out.
We had wild turkeys in our backyard one morning (about nine of them) & they were riveted to the windows.

...but I think it would be a totally different story if there were a turkey in the house. Esme would never come out from under the bed. ;)
