My impulse is always to buy, too. But today, instead of wanting a book and snatching a copy from Amazon or a bookstore chain, I decided to check the library first. I was shocked to find out they had a copy -- I thought it would be impossible to find there, being kind of a fringe book. I was very proud of myself for saving the cash and utilizing a community resource. It was the kind of happy that made me smile for an hour afterward. It was so much more rewarding than if I'd just thrown money at the problem.
Also, I'm thinking of doubling your crockpot experiment. I got a crockpot for Christmas from my mother-in-law (yes, I do think of Josh and I as practically married, lol), and I've always gone looking for recipes, specific ingredients...but I think I could make a Scavenger Stew if I looked around my apartment hard enough. I am intrigued by the possibilities. :-3
