HOLY SHIPOTLE! Are you kidding me?!
1. Am I supposed to suspend disbelief about the fact that Katherine somehow picked up Elena's speech patterns as well as found a way to appropriate an identical outfit to hers? Doesn't that make you shiver and wonder just how long she's been stalking Elena, following her around shopping malls, and messing stuff up in Mystic Falls to begin with? And doesn't it also make you wonder how much Parent Trap identical twins shenanigans there will be next season if Katherine sticks around and keeps impersonating Elena at inopportune times? Doesn't it drive you mad that Elena and Damon *finally* kiss and it is a bait and switch? At the time of the kiss I was thinking, "Wow. This can't be happening. Elena wouldn't do this without a fight or some uncomfortable mood-killing dialogue." And albedamned, it was Katherine!
2. How uncomfortable will it be for Elena to be left with a blood-soaked kitchen, a knife-block filled with weapons, and her dead uncle's body? (I'm assuming Katherine will have done the vampire-swoosh out the window thing.) Um...do you think she's got heavy duty garbage bags, bleach, and a shovel handy? Good thing that Jeremy is out of his mind on those sleeping pills, because that'll take some doing to clean up and avoid the murder rap.
3. It was sad to watch Anna die and I wasn't even a fan of her. It'll be interesting to see if Jeremy survives his suicide attempt or becomes a vampire. Can you imagine him as a vampire? He'd give even Stefan a run for his mopey-money.
4. Mayor Lockwood dead? That's priceless. Am I to assume that now, just like Bonnie, there is no older mentor to help Tyler ease into his full powers as a (let's assume) werewolf? Isn't that fascinating, how the teenagers in this town are pretty much all by themselves? Aunt Jenna is like a figurehead of permissive, absent parenting. Elena is trying to save everyone. Bonnie has the book but no Grams. I mean, really. They've got nobody to rely on but themselves and they've really no idea what lays on the other side of their transformations.
5. Will Caroline die? What role does she play on the show, really, and is it necessary? I just hope she doesn't need any sort of blood transfusions because we *know* the hospital is running a little short.
6. I'm glad they didn't kill the Sheriff.
7. New episodes in September. Gah. True Blood and Top Chef is my only hope of sanity. Or, you know, going on a television hiatus of my own.
8. Fascinating, isn't it, how the new town council stole the idea, wholesale, of rounding up all the vampires, putting them into a building, and lighting it on fire. Don't they know how badly that turned out the first time? And didn't Uncle John seem not as intent on finding/killing Stefan as he'd promised to do with Isobel?
What did you think?
