Thrift Find: Giant Blue Unicorn Head Cookie Jar
Found At: Goodwill in Jupiter, Florida
Price Paid: $5.35
Why I'm So Excited: It is absurd and fabulous at the same time. I can honestly say I've never seen a unicorn head cookie jar, let alone one in such a vibrant shade of eyeshadow blue. There are even gold stars tangled in its hair. It pushes the envelope of good taste and the cashier boy made terrible fun of me, yes, but it is so freaking adorable. Just look at those crazy eyes and that little baby horn!

Thrift Find: Small White Unicorn Porcelain Jewelry Box
Found At: Goodwill in Jupiter, Florida
Price Paid: $2.28
Why I'm So Excited: It is beautiful! So gracefully carved and not that chalky texture that so many unicorn figurines have. Stamped on the bottom, made in Japan in 1982. The horn was, at some point, broken and reglued which makes it even dearer to me. I'm going to use it for magickal purposes, since it has a nice-sized compartment underneath the lid for stones and whatnot.

I looooove the cookie jar! :)

Taking photos of my thrifted items is so on my to-do list along with some other things I said "I'll do!" then forget because my short-term memory clearly stinks beyond all imagination. @_@ Sarah was telling me how AMAZING the shopping is where you are... jealous! Atlanta stinks for thrift stores... though I did find a much needed sturdy new purse last weekend. :)

Keep posting your finds - I love these entries~

Chicago is gross for shopping, too. Here is hit or miss. There are lots of retirees, so entire estates are packaged up and dropped off at Goodwill. But that also means a lot of it is, shall we say, appealing to an older audience? :D

Potty chairs and walkers are everywhere. Toys and YA books, not so much.

I hope you'll post something soon. I'd love even a glimpse into your thrift store shopping habits. :D

I know... I'm so freaking forgetful. Here's me at midnight when I go into the bedroom: "Oh, there's that pretty thing we picked up at the thrift store! OH MY GOSH I NEED TO PHOTOGRAPH IT." Except at midnight, it's too dark for a good shot. :( Must... make... mental... note...

I love that about the South, though. Lots of old money and families who don't want the estate means we can get lots of great finds. Unfortunately for Atlanta, said finds only come up if you go to actual yard and estate sales, something I may try in the coming weeks since the stores themselves are mostly antique or way over-priced ($14 for a shirt from Target? Really?!).

Ha! That's why all my thrift find photos are so bad. I either power up the flash or turn on a bunch of lamps and go with flashless and blurry. ;) Go ahead. Take the photo at midnight! *enables*

I miss garage sales! I might have to search them out here. In Chicago, no garages, no yards--no sales! :D

I've never gone to an estate sale. That's the posh world of thriftiness. ;)

I have been to very few estate sales here, but in California, it's an art. Except the people running the sales know that antique dealers come out in droves to those things, so prices are higher and you get pushed around a lot. Not surprisingly, the things I find out west that I LOVE are always the $2-3 knick-knacks that dealers won't touch. I should probably photograph some of the cool stuff my aunt (a dealer out in California) finds for me or that I've found with her!

Eep, enabler! ;) I'll see what I can do; everything definitely deserves a photograph. :D
