1. Rhiannon, they're apricots. (I'm an idiot. English. Not my best language. ;) ) Only these are a paler hybrid they're calling "angelcots" which is a lame marketing technique but nonetheless--yummy produce from Trader Joe's.

2. Thanks to Rhiannon, I'm now somewhat hooked on So You Think You Can Dance. I hate all the forced jokes and time-killing, but watching the dancers dance and having so many genres represented was pretty damn entertaining. I just need to tape it so I can fast-forward past all the talkie-talk.

3. Tomorrow, we're going on a Fourth of July weekend road trip to the wilds of Wisconsin. It was a last-minute decision we're still scrambling to organize, but Daniel feels compelled to get away from his work for awhile. Otherwise, with his schedule, he'd just stay here and work through the holiday. It should be fun and woodsy instead of my neighborhood's usual celebration of amateurs lighting illegal fireworks from their rooftops or shooting off firearms. :)

4. I went on Tuesday to my local movie theatre for their Babies & Moms matinee showing of Up!. Graeme was good throughout the show. At the end he got a little antsy and ran up and down the aisle I was sitting in. It helped that the theatre was almost empty and that I'd packed my purse full of contraband toddler snacks. I cried from pretty much the opening credits through the end.

5. I wonder why so many acclaimed books have to be tragic? I mean, just like Oscar winning movies, there seem to be a lot of stillborn babies, instances of rape and incest, and shockingly sudden deaths in award-winning fiction. The general theme seems to be, "Life sucks and then you die." I'm not a fan. I read Lee Smith's On Agate Hill this week. It is exquisite and dire at the same time. In contrast, I'm reading Kelley Armstrong's new supernatural YA The Awakening and am entertained by its brainless, aimless fluff qualities. There is probably a happy middle ground somewhere, but for now I'm happy with the fluff. :) I can't help but wonder if the author intended to write something so similar to L.J. Smith's Dark Visions trilogy of a decade ago.

6. My summer schedule has become pretty packed. Between SpiralScouts camping and visits to friends, there is no slow-up in sight. That's nice. June's been quietly spent at home. I'm ready for some adventures, some new scenery. :)

7. Graeme painstakingly climbed up into my easy chair to try to put a plastic egg shell on my head as a hat. He thinks it is hilarious to pretend everything is a hat. Toddler silliness. :D I've been taking a photo of him every day for almost a month now for Flickr. I realize through it that he's got a pretty sweet life and therefore, so do I.

:)

I hope you all have a happy, safe weekend!

1. APRICOTS. I can't believe I didn't think of those. What is the other skin color in the Crayola box other than peach? APRICOT. Damnit. I fail at English, too. And angelcots? Those sound adorable. I may think they are too cute to eat.

2. HA! Ha dee ha dee ha! I have all of this season on my computer, but previous seasons, I do not. I need to look into the DVD boxset scenerio. I'm glad you liked it! Now you can be fixated as well. O_O

3. We are doing nothing, as far as I know. Chad's grandpa's 90-somethingth birthday is the 4th, so I bet we'll go down and see him. My parents left for the beach today, so they'll be MIA until Monday sometime. What to do... what to do. Probably swim and eat and maybe hang out with my grandma. Good times!

4. I haven't been to the movies since I demanded to be included in family movie time to see Star Trek. Chad and Alex religiously go to the movies on Tuesdays because drinks are only a buck and we bought the giant bucket of popcorn doom for like $15 dollars early in the year, but it's good for $1 refills all year long, so it's worth it. I need to figure out when I'm going to see HP. Maybe I'll go on Tuesday night after you leave? SYTYCD is messing up my availability on Wed and Thur, then you're here all weekend, so I should just go on Tuesday when I can get a cheap drink and not miss any TV. Priorities!

5. I've been about 50/50 with the fluff and the tragic as well. (More fluff than tragedy, though.) I'm starting the City of Ember books right now, but honestly, I have so many books to read, I'm pulled in 394023820934 different directions. I'll get to them all someday. :/

6. YAY! I think you should just rephrase number 6 to say: "I've been wasting away all summer not seeing my beloved Rhiannon and now I will be seeing her in two weeks! Then I have to wait until October to see her again-- or will I?! Dun dun dunnnnnnnn..."

7. Graeme's "Is this a hat"? game is amazing. You should license it. I can't wait to see him again! :D (and you, too, I guess.) ;)

I <3 Kelley Armstrong. If you like her stuff, have you tried Jim Butcher? And you like Tamora Pierce, right? Give Jim Hines a try.

I LOVE SYTYCD and have gotten Russell totally into it as well. We turned it into adult *snuggle during the commercials* nights. When we can no longer "snuggle" we pause, finish snuggling then finish watching incredible dancing with much ff through the wordy bits :)

We even got to see the last season on tour, though Russell was disappointed because Twitch hurt himself during the Russian routine and couldn't do the dance we were hoping to see him do. (Twitch was Russell's fave last season)
